Erg Chebbi is one of Morocco's two great seas of sand dunes, more than 20 kilometres long, with crests that rise up to about 150 metres above the stony desert. Merzouga sits right at its foot, so you can be on a camel within minutes of arriving.
These experiences are for travelers who are already in Merzouga, or who are driving themselves. Many guests combine two: a sunset camel trek with a night at camp, then a 4x4 tour or a quad ride the next morning.

Do I need to book a desert experience in advance?
In spring, autumn and over the Christmas holidays, yes, especially for camp nights and luxury tents. The rest of the year a day or two ahead is usually fine. Send us a WhatsApp and we will check availability straight away.
How long is the camel ride to the camp?
About an hour to an hour and a half each way, with a stop on a ridge to watch the sunset. If you prefer not to ride, we can take you to camp by 4x4.
Can I do a desert experience if I have my own car?
Yes. Park at our guesthouse in Merzouga, where your car and big luggage stay safe while you are in the dunes.
What is the best time of day for the dunes?
The hour before sunset and the hour after sunrise. The light is soft, the shadows are long and the sand is cool enough to walk on barefoot.
