# About Merzouga Online

A small team from Merzouga, at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. We have been taking travelers into the Sahara for well over a decade.

## A local team at the edge of Erg Chebbi

Merzouga Online is a small desert tour company in Merzouga, the village at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes in south-east Morocco. Everyone who looks after you is from here: the guides who walk beside the camels, the drivers who know every bend of the Atlas roads, and the cooks who light the fire at our camp.

We started with what people here have always done best: taking travelers into the dunes on camels, at the pace of the camels. Over the years guests asked us to pick them up in Marrakech or Fes, to show them the gorges on the way, to find a quieter dune for photos, to make the tent a little more comfortable. So the camel treks grew into a camp of our own and into multi-day Sahara tours across the country, but the way we work has stayed the same.

Since 2012 our guests have reviewed us on Tripadvisor under our old name, "Merzouga Online - Camel Trekking", and today we are rated **4.7 out of 5 from 40 reviews** on Google and Tripadvisor. You can [read every review](https://merzougaonlinetours.com/reviews/) in the guests' own words.

## The people guests remember

These are the names that come back again and again in our reviews.

### Mohamed

The one who answers your messages, plans the routes and makes sure everything fits together. Guests write that he speaks very good English, arranged their trip "exactly the way I wanted" and picked them up from the bus at six in the morning.

### Mustafa

Guide and host. He comes from a nomad family and grew up with camels and dunes. Travelers have written about his "magical tours into the desert" and about learning to see the Sahara in a different way with him.

### Youssef and the camp team

The camel men, drummers and cooks who make the evenings: the tajine by the fire, the drums afterwards, and the help with your bags in the morning. One guest still remembers Mohamed's nephew playing the drums after dinner.

## How we work

### One clear price

You get one price by email or WhatsApp with everything listed. What we quote is what you pay. No surprise "extras" at the camp.

### Small groups or fully private

No packed buses and no shared tents. Your group has its own tent, and every multi-day tour can be private.

### Our own camp

The camp in the dunes is ours, so we know the beds are clean, the food is fresh and someone from our team is there all night.

### At the pace of the camels

A guide walks beside the camels on every ride, the pace is slow, and you can always walk part of the way or reach camp by 4x4 instead.

### Honest advice

If a trip doesn't make sense (two days from Marrakech, a camel ride at noon in July), we'll tell you, and suggest something better.

### Your language

We speak English, French, Spanish, Arabic and Tamazight, the Berber language of the region.

## Travelling responsibly with us

Merzouga lives from tourism, and we want it to stay a place worth visiting. We work with local guides, drivers, cooks and guesthouses, buy our food in the village and in Rissani market, and keep groups small. At camp, water is brought in by truck, so showers are short; please take your rubbish back with you, and ask before you photograph people in the villages.

Tell us when you are coming and how long you have. We'll suggest the right trip and reply with one clear price.
